Dynamics 365 Business Central: 2020 Wave 1 Business Central Updates

Dynamics 365 Business Central: 2020 Wave 1 Business Central Updates

Hey, everyone. We're going to take a look at what Microsoft just posted actually a couple of weeks ago, but it's Wave 1 for 2020 Business Central, and they are announcing some really cool stuff that's coming in February and March for private release and then general release in April and all the way into June. A lot of improvements on the client and some feature improvements in the business logic, so let's take a quick look at least where you can go and take a look at it on the web on Microsoft website. Let's see.

If you go onto Microsoft and just google the 2020 release Wave 1 plan for Business Central, you'll get to this page. This is basically listing out what's coming out for public preview in January/February and then availability in April. They actually have something in July here, etc. If you look at it quickly, what's going on, I would say minor enhancements to the actual applications or to the features. There is things like enhanced document layout, auto-insert in recurring lines, over-receive or something like that. It's not a huge addition, but we definitely have a lot of improvements on the client. They're doing things like you cannot export out of Excel if you take away that – or export into Excel from the application if you don't allow that, which is pretty good. In some cases, people don't want everything to be exportable into Excel. You can print without interaction. These are actually big deals, really good things for the application. I'm actually looking forward to take a look at that.

It makes sense that Microsoft is not enhancing the application, per se, too much but rather enhancing the client interface and the back-end because partners will be extending the application with apps and Microsoft should basically just make sure that the back-end is perfect. Looking forward to this; it's going to be nice. We're definitely going to dive into showing the features as they come out and so stay tuned.
