Dynamics 365 Business Central: April 2019 Updates, part 6

Dynamics 365 Business Central: April 2019 Updates, part 6:

We’re still in Iceland, and we’re going to take a look at another update. We just got something popping into our application called Smart Lists. We’ve been waiting for Smart Lists for awhile.

Basically the idea is that you can filter lists and then save those views. What came is almost that, but not quite. We’re going to take a look at that.

We’re in Iceland. We’re very close to summer solstice. We’re going to get about 3 hours or less than 3 hours of night time per 24 hours. The sun doesn’t really go away, it just gets gray and then gets bright again. It’s kind of interesting and kind of crazy. Let’s take a look at the video.

Let’s take a look at this. If I go into Sales Orders, there is something called Smart List. If you go into More Options here, there’s a new feature called Smart List that just popped up. I’m going to click on that. I get this predefined Smart Lists up here.

If I take a look at Item Quantities, I get a list of items, quantity on hand, purchase order, net invoiced, etc. That seems interesting. Let’s take a look at maybe items by location. I feel like that’s a pretty cool one where we can see if it’s in a particular location.

For example, here I have the touring bicycle in Maine in returns, also in the blank location. I’m right now in the Cronus database. That’s why I have these funky locations and funky items. Customers with credit limit, so I can see everybody who has a credit limit, etc.

This is pretty interesting to get those Smart Lists in. I think it’s the beginning of this. I haven’t really seen how to create Smart Lists. If you go in here and type in Smart Lists, I don’t get anything. I think it almost feels like a preview of this function.

I’m going to dig around a little bit further. I know that Microsoft has been promising Smart Lists for awhile. We’re supposed to come in the April update, and we weren’t delivered on that. Here we have Smart Lists again. I was at the sales order so we can see the sales orders. I get Smart Lists here to see negative quantity items, etc.

I’m not sure how to create the Smart Lists. Like I said, I don’t have any information about that yet. If I find out, I will let you guys know. For example, here if I filter something, filter the number by 1000 to 1170 – now it would be nice to be able to save this Smart List, but I don’t have any option to do that yet. I believe that programmatically we can now create Smart Lists with development and just add them into the options. That’s what I’ve been told.

Until further information about the Smart Lists, this is as much as you have. I have it on the sales order. I got it on the items. I’m guessing the customer has it as well. Let’s take a quick look. They’re just predefined lists, not anything that we can change.

We’re almost there. Obviously, what we want as a Smart List is to be able to create a filter on this and then save the filter inside the Smart List. That doesn’t look like it’s here yet, so we wait. Thank you.
