Dynamics 365 Business Central Top 10 Features In October 2019 Release

Dynamics 365 Business Central Top 10 Features in October 2019 Release

Hey, everyone. You were probably wondering if we were going to do the Wave 2 update. It's been out for a while. You're right, we should have done it maybe a long time ago. Microsoft's released a YouTube video. We decided to wait a little bit. We were so consumed by warehouse, and costing, and all of those things. Now we're going to do it. The way we're going to do it is with a top ten features released in Wave 2. By the way, Wave 2 looks really good, really liked it. A lot of patches filling up everything.

Number 10: Personalize your Role Center

Actions in the Role Center, now you can add and remove actions in the Role Center. Another feature on the Role Center where you can manipulate things, really good.

Number 9: Save and Personalize List Views

Now, if you're a GP user, you us something called Smart Lists. If you were a nav, you could save views. Basically, we got that back into Business Central. Microsoft, yes, finally. A lot of people have been waiting for that.

Number 8: Add Links to the Navigation Menu

What you can do is you can go and search. We were going crazy searching always in Business Central. Now you can go and search. If you find something you use all the time, you could bookmark it. It's on your menu. You don't have to search for it again. It's right there in your center, or role center, so really good. Less searching is better, Microsoft, believe me.

Number 7: Identifying the Company by a Badge

That's a really good one. We used to have this indicator in the company card. You could say whether it's a test company or a production company. We got that back. Now you can actually go in there and put a color. I think it's three characters you can put in to identify it. You can put test, TST for test company, and make it red so you're not posting in the test company, etcetera. That's good.

Number 6: Filter Reports

The filter screen, right now, allows you to go into the table behind the report, add fields to that list where you can filter, and filter on those fields like we used to be able to do. We got that back. That's definitely good work. Solely believes - definitely good for Number 6.

Number 5: Resizing Columns

Every other application in the world can resize columns by dragging that. Finally, Microsoft put that into our application. Yes, very good, everybody was waiting for it.

Number 4: General User Experience Adjustments

This one is interesting. When you were in the brick view, or the tile view of the item list, or any list at all, if you clicked on the tile, it opened up the cart. You could never really click on the cart and see the side bars update. Now that's been fixed. Moreover, now you can control and click multiple things by selecting those things. Holding down control and clicking works, which is awesome, very good.

Number 3: Full Keyboard Support

Hitting F9 will post. People like keyboards still.

Number 2: We can Multitask across Multiple Pages

Now, we can actually open up more tabs, and have views into the client, and work on many things at once. The item lists, have that up, or the inventory list. Create a sales order with the inventory open on the side. Even be in multiple companies.

Number 1: The Department Screen

I did this intentionally. When I first got into BC, I was like, where is my department screen. It was gone. Now I just had to type in search. That was a little bit of an adjustment for me. Now, it's back. I feel like I'm in one piece again. I feel like I'm whole.

I hope you enjoyed it. I'm sure you have opinions about whether the feature that you mostly liked made the list, did not make the list, or wasn't high on the list, or low on the list. Please comment on this. Enjoy, and I'll see you guys on Thursday.
